InstantET Desktop Player
Agency/Paramount Television

ROLE:Architecture, Programming and Animation

InstantET displays streaming video snippets from the popular television show Entertainment Tonight.
Overview:
Agency had designed the Entertainment Tonight Flying Object: an application that remains in the users system tray, periodically receiving entertainment news as it happens. In addition, the ETFO had to be flexible enough to be re-skinned, play streaming video, animate into and back to the system tray, and allow users to send messages to friends directly from the application.

Project Highlights:
Much of the development of the instantET player centered around joining Flash player components with Streaming Video (via Windows Media Player) and a robust XML backend. Advanced Windows API routines paired with advanced Flash ActionScript is the heart of this project. The product was prototyped in Visual Basic for final design and functionality approval, and then rewritten in C++ for robust capabilities and smaller download size.
