Overview:
In 1994, Dr. Health'nstein's Body Fun was released as a CD-ROM product. Nearly a decade later, the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation wanted to leverage the same program for a web audience. How do you migrate a 300MB+ game to a low bandwidth environment like the world wide web?
Project Highlights:
All assets and logic for the existing CD ROM was reverse engineered for a Flash 5.0 delivery. With special tools created by RoganStreet to cull images from Director content and into Flash libraries, the CD was converted to a game playable on 56K modems, on virtually any internet enabled desktop. Students could save their place in the game with no database required, eliminating any dependence on server based technologies. As an added bonus, the local High School (Bozeman High School in Bozeman, Montana) served as both Usability and Quality Assurance testers. 6 computers were donated to the school for their efforts.
