Packard Bell Tutorials
Ark Interface, Packard Bell, Publishing Power, Inc.

ROLE:Technical Direction, Programming, Illustration, 3D Animation, and UI design.

The tutorials resided in a "room" in navigator as a "Museum Box" display
Overview:
Packard Bell shipped with Ark Interface's Navigator as the default Windows interface. These tutorials work seamlessly with the Navigator environment; accounting for processor load, art and user interface design. These tutorials use a custom database that allows easy localization to several other languages. Advanced use of QuickTime for Windows allows for seamless integration of animations. Each section features a video host with synchronized closed captioning for narration.

Project Highlights:
In order to stay flexible with the authoring or the project within tight deadline schedules, a Visual Basic "engine" was developed that was driven by Excel spreadsheets and an Access database. Several innovations in the use of Visual Basic, QuickTime and the Windows API allowed for seamless integration of several formats of animations including 3D, 2D and video.
